It all started with a dream….. Paul Dittamo wanted to own a restaurant as long as he could remember. Paul is the seventh of the eight children of Hector and Theresa Dittamo. There are also fourteen grandkids.

The Dittamo family has lived in Woodbridge for over 27 years.

The Dittamo clan is a very close-knit family. They wanted to help Paul make his dream come true. So, sister Christy and her husband, Eric, decided to help by financing the new venture.

Brother Andy also dreamed of owning a restaurant and wanted to join in. Andy and his new wife, Courtney contributed funding and expertise for the store.

After a few months, the Dittamos realized that they did not have enough money to finish their dream. Hector and Theresa came to the rescue, as they have many times in the past. The loving parents contributed the remaining money so we could begin construction on the new pizzeria.

The Dittamos chose a location for the new pizza eatery that was only three miles from where they grew up. We anxiously watched as the new building in Merchant’s Plaza took form.

Finally, in August 2005, we got the keys to our new place. We celebrated by hanging our sign in the window. Now, there was only three months to turn an empty box into the best pizzeria Woodbridge has ever seen.

Slowly, but surely, the space transformed. At first, things looked pretty messy. We cut up the concrete floor to install the plumbing. Our restaurant was filled with gravel mounds and muddy trenches.

However, every little bit of progress filled our hearts with joy.

The day our big Fox’s Pizza Den sign went up was a particularly exciting day.

Before we knew it, our shapeless gray box had walls and a black and white checkered floor.

As the opening approached, Paul knew that he would need a great manager and wonderful staff to help him run the store.

The equipment arrives!!!!! We called everyone we knew to help us move the two 1000 pound pizza ovens from the delivery truck to their new home. After hours of unloading equipment, Paul and Jason are overcome with silliness.

It was time for the finishing touches. Christy, who is extremely talented, decided to paint the Fox’s logo on the wall.

Eric, a master at technology, made sure that the new computer system was up and running. Andy and Courtney are both CPAs. Their business and accounting expertise has helped Fox’s Pizza Den get off the ground. Theresa, the matriarch of the Dittamo family, helps with the store everyday by keeping it clean. She has been known to help deliver pizzas, too. Finally, after more than four decades of government service in the military and at the Pentagon, Hector decided to retire and become Fox’s Pizza Den full-time bookkeeper.

Lizzie, the youngest of the eight Dittamo kids and a brilliant photographer and artist, designed a line of shirts for the new store.

Finally all the hard work paid off on November 7 2005.

Since then we have had many trials and tribulations coupled with a few missteps on the way. We strive daily to exceed our customers’ expectations and provide the best tasting food coupled with friendly prompt service. We hope you will come join us and become part of our humble family.
